Our Shirasu-kabe to Appear at the Building Materials Exhibition in Shanghai!

At the “2013 China Ecological Decorative Materials and Diatomite Exhibition” to be held in Shanghai from May 22^nd over 3 days, Takachiho Shirasu’s Shirasu-kabe will be on exhibit at the booth of Beijing Dajin New Diatomite Materials Co., Ltd.

At the booth, we plan to present plastering samples, A5-size samples, and kits that allow visitors to experience humidity-control and deodorizing effects in addition to panels that introduce the characteristics of Shirasu-kabe. Our technical staff will also be there to demonstrate the construction of Shirasu-kabe.

Shirasu-kabe has received the Eco-Products Awards Special Jury Award

Takachiho Shirasu Corporation’s Shirasu-kabe has received the Special Jury Award (Incentive Award) in the Eco-Products Category for the 9th Eco-Products Awards (Organizer: Eco-Products Awards Steering Committee, Sponsors: Ministry of Finance; Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare; Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries; Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry; Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism; Ministry of the Environment).
The Eco-Products Awards recognize exceptional products and services that reduce the burden on the environment. In particular, Shirasu-kabe was recognized for curbing energy consumption in the manufacturing process and for its energy-conservation/energy-saving capabilities as a wall material.

Appraisal
The characteristics of shirasu lead to a reduction in the environmental burden that arises from the manufacturing process.
Shirasu-kabe was evaluated on its ability to curb energy consumption when used by decreasing thermal conductivity through its porous nature and its excellent insulating properties.
Shirasu-kabe can also be commended on being effective as a sick-house measure through its good ability to capture and not release formaldehyde.
We were also commended on attempting to promote local industries, increase employment, and harmonize with the natural environment by commissioning local farmers to process raw materials in between farm work and using sheds and barns as production facilities.
